The UNICEF Internship Programme offers students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain direct practical experience with UNICEF's work. This nutrition program internship in UNICEF is a great opportunity to acquire practical working experience while contributing to the achievement of stop stunting flagship, SDG, WHA, and country (FNS and HSTP II) targets. The objective is for the intern to support the Country Office in multi-sectoral nutrition advocacy, information system, coordination, and evidence generation.

How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of a Nutrition Specialist, the intern will undertake the following tasks:

  • Support and monitor the functioning of the regional Food and Nutrition Multisectoral Coordination mechanism, review the Multisectoral TA's monthly reports, provide feedback, and compile reports.
  • Monitor the multisectoral nutrition coordination status through ODK and prepare briefs.
  • Support and follow up the rollout of UNISE in target woredas and facilitate evidence-informed decision-making using available and timely multisectoral data through UNISE.
  • Provide training to regional, Zonal, and Woreda Managers on the planning and implementing of nutrition-specific and sensitive interventions.
  • Monitor and support the visibility of Food and Nutrition  Policy/Strategy through social media.
  • Support the implementation of recommended strategies for the nutrition-specific and multisectoral nutrition coordination operational research.
  • Conduct field visits for technical support

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • He/she should be enrolled at a university at the undergraduate or graduate level or be a recent graduate in Public Health, Health, Nutrition, public health, or related field is required.
  • Knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications such as MS Office.
  • Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills.
  • Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team.
  • Flexible and open to learning and new experiences.
  • Respect for diversity and adaptability to other cultures and working environments.
  • Fluency in English is required.
